The Pivotal Synthetic Drug Product group within the Drug Product Technologies (DPT) department is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and team-oriented Associate Scientist to support formulation development for synthetic small molecule drug products.
This role is ideal for individuals with a strong academic foundation in solid oral dosage forms , particularly those with backgrounds in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Organic Chemistry, or related disciplines, who are eager to grow in a dynamic, collaborative R&D environment.

responsibilities:
As part of the synthetics-focused drug product team , the Associate Scientist will:
- Serve as member of Drug Product development teams, providing hands-on formulation and process expertise during the development of clinical and commercial formulations for solid oral dosage forms (e.g., tablets, capsules).
- Design and execute formulation experiments, organize and analyze results with minimal supervision.
- Communicate data and interpretation to the team.
- Ensure all contracted studies are conducted in compliance with protocols, applicable regulations, and quality standards.
qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree (BS) or Master's (MS) degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, or related field. Strong academic training in pharmaceutics, particularly from institutions with robust pharmaceutics or drug product development programs, is highly valued.
- Some industry or academic research experience with an emphasis on oral solid dosage forms (tablets, capsules, etc.).
- Solid understanding of typical unit operations in drug product development and manufacturing / testing of solid oral dosage forms.
- Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Exposure to or internship experience at companies specializing in small molecule therapeutics (e.g., Merck, Pfizer, AbbVie, Lilly, BMS).
- Familiarity with GMP environments and regulatory compliance related to formulation studies.
