What You'll Do
We seek a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow for our NGS Process Development team to develop and validate novel Omics technologies. Based in South Plainfield, NJ, this role involves working on cutting-edge genomic technologies that could impact human health and offers the chance to gain essential skills for transitioning from academia to industry.
The ideal candidate will have experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques and a strong background in molecular biology, bioinformatics, or related fields. Responsibilities include designing experiments, analyzing data, writing reports, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals. The successful applicant will be expected to stay current with advancements in genomics and contribute to reporting results at scientific conferences.
The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving. We welcome individuals who are passionate about innovation in genomics and eager to make a difference in human health.
Key Responsibilities
Work with colleagues and key stakeholders to identify opportunities to deploy novel Omics technologies to address areas of unmet needs within Azenta's customer base.
Conceptualize, develop, and validate novel genomics workflows and platforms (e.g. NGS, qPCR, digital PCR, and spatial profiling) to support customers in early R&D and clinical research fields.
Collaborate with colleagues within the department to meet development goals and ensure smooth transfer of knowledge and capabilities to Operations team.
Proactively recommend process improvements.
Communicate project requirements, status, and deadlines with internal teams.
Provide support to the Operations team to deliver projects as needed.
What You'll Bring
PhD in genomics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or a related field, required.
Strong knowledge of molecular biology and a proven track record in wet lab development and troubleshooting, including hands-on experience with NGS library preparation workflows, required.
Attention to detail and a mindset focused on continuous improvement, required. In your cover letter, provide an example of actions you took to enhance a process or workflow and the results that were obtained.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment.
