Shift: Monday Friday 8am-5pm
Compensation: $70,000 -$77,000/year DOE

Position Summary:
Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a dynamic R&D Scientist who will formulate a range of personal care products using existing and new technologies to support company-wide growth and future brand strategies. The role involves experimenting with both conventional and non-conventional approaches, new formula bases, raw ingredients, and processing techniques to achieve unique product claims and benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently create innovative formulations and ensure product stability while understanding the formulation-product development relationship.
  • Manage projects for personal care products, cosmetics, and OTC from concept to completion.
  • Perform stability tests ensuring the robustness of formulas and packaging over time.
  • Collaborate to develop specifications for new and reformulated products.
  • Stay informed on market trends, formulation materials, ingredients, and costs.
  • Offer technical expertise and represent the lab in cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct trials to identify new or alternative raw materials.
  • Prepare laboratory batches for evaluation purposes.
  • Maintain meticulous laboratory documentation in alignment with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in chemistry, engineering, or related technical fields with 1-5 years of experience in cosmetics/personal care formulation and Research Innovation and Development (RID).
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs), safety guidelines, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Expertise in analyzing scientific problems, interpreting technical data, and crafting innovative solutions.
  • Broad knowledge of personal care product formulation and development.
  • Exceptional communication skills, adept at conveying scientific information to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in mathematical concepts including probability and statistics.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in customer support and problem-solving, with knowledge of color pigments and inorganic compounds being advantageous.
