About the Role:
Contributes to long-term strategy and create operational plans to enable the growth and enhance productivity of the DMPK group. Oversees novel and creative methods to solve sophisticated, highly complex problems. Provides leadership and direction for assigned functions related to Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) discovery and development support. Act as primary point of contact for DMPK scientific efforts and serve as a DMPK expert for leadership and team briefings. Provided leadership to, mentorship to and frequently supervise the day-to-day work of less experienced team members._
Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Contributes to the DMPK long-term strategy planning and leads the development of strategic project / group goals and methods
Oversees both projects and teams for in-vivo and in-vitro drug metabolism studies, PK/TK/PD studies, and/or drug permeability and transport studies
Conceptualize, identify, develop novel strategies leading to developing and implementing methodologies to characterize DMPK properties of drug candidates
Provides recommendations on behalf of DMPK when needed.
Selects, on-boards, and oversees outsourcing partners of DMPK studies, oversees testing / troubleshooting all data, results and provides recommendations to solve technical issues, ensures partners adhere to contractual obligations and standards, within budget
Provides expert level contribution in the preparation and review of regulatory submissions
Will provide leadership and mentorship to and frequently manage the day-to-day work the team
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
BS/BA in biology, chemistry, or related science field and 15+ years of experience acting as a DMPK representative on discovery teams. Significant experience in an ADME laboratory is required
MS/MA in biology, chemistry, or related science field and 13+ years of similar experience noted above OR
PhD or equivalent and 7+ years of relevant experience; may include postdoc experience
Extensive theoretical and hands-on experience with multiple technologies and methodologies such as: automation, tissue culture, LC-MS/MS, radioisotope use, PK analysis and modeling and simulation software
Individual will have authoritative knowledge in at least one DMPK core competency and expert knowledge in multiple DMPK core competencies (instrumental analysis and automation, enzymology and cell culture, biotransformation, PK/PD modeling and analysis).
Seen as a company expert on scientific principles, methods and techniques
Stays abreast of the latest technology and recommends new laboratory instrumentation and/or PK analysis and/or modeling and simulation software
Expertise acting as a DMPK representative on all assigned teams
Applies understanding of the team's place in the larger organization, and discusses changes, progress, and issues as they relate to other areas
Maintains substantial knowledge of principles and theories and acts as a technical lead on various projects
Leads the development of intellectual property
May utilize working knowledge of other related disciplines to provide solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
Ability to work as part of and lead multiple teams
Good leadership, mentoring skills and abilities typically leads lower levels and/or indirect teams
Excellent communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking skills
Sees broader picture and longer-term impact on division/company.

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $153,800.00-$222,850.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
