Laboratory Manager (STL)

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for a Laboratory Manager for our Specialist Testing Laboratory (STL) in Gainesville, FL.

About This Position

Our Gainesville STL is provides molecular, histocompatibility, hematology, chemistry, blood center and Cellular Therapies product quality control for LifeSouths hospitals and other blood centers. The STL is supported by Board Certified Pathologists in Transfusion Medicine, and provides support for LifeSouth s accredited Immunohematology Reference Labs in Gainesville, FL, Jacksonville, FL, Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL.

The Managers Minimum Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)

- Provide onsite day-to-day supervision of testing personnel and reporting of test results under the direction of the laboratory director

- Perform laboratory procedures and reporting of test results

- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from agencies such as CLIA, FDA, AABB, and HIPAA

- Provide mentoring and leadership to laboratory staff and other departments

-Continuous improvement of lab processes and procedures

-Implementing new equipment and testing processes

Qualifications

- National certification as Generalist MT/MLS with ASCP, AAB, or AMT

- Supervisor license issued by the state of Florida; or eligible to apply for one

- Bachelors degree in Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science; Master's degree or equivalent preferred

- National certification as SBB(ASCP), MB or SMB(ASCP), SCYM(ASCP), CHT or CHS(ACHI), CABP(AABB) recommended

- Five years of clinical laboratory experience and two years of management experience
