Are you passionate about environmental science and eager to make a tangible impact? Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a dynamic Environmental Scientist with two to five years of relevant experience to assist in planning and implementing environmental and natural resources projects. This position may be responsible for performing site environmental surveys, preparing technical reports, collecting field data and samples, and interpreting data. This position will work closely with a team of environmental professionals, including engineers, geologists, and GIS specialists. We are looking for an employee to work out of our Phoenix, AZ office located off 24th St. & Highland.
Responsibilities- Conduct field work for environmental projects including native plant inventories, migratory bird surveys, and other biological evaluations.
- Experience with Clean Water Act Section 404 including preliminary and approved jurisdictional determinations, nationwide and individual permits.
- Understanding of permitting for development of private, state, and federal land.
- Perform Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments and investigations.
- Proficient with collecting field data using GPS equipment.
- Experience with ArcGIS software is preferred.
- Complete initial preparation of reports for projects.
- Adhere to company and client QA/QC standards.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other technical professionals who are part of the project team.
- Establish & maintain positive relationships with co-workers, support and build others on the team and across disciplines/offices.
- Working in various terrains and environments throughout the year.
- Performing physical tasks in the field which may include regular carrying of equipment (20-50 pounds).
- Occasional local and overnight travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Environmental Science or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in Environmental Science or applicable technical field.
- Arizona field experience preferred.
- Willingness to undertake training as necessary to fill environmental needs.
- Intermediate knowledge of environmental concepts, theories, principles and practices.
- Effective investigative, analytical and research techniques.
- General computer skills, knowledge and acumen (i.e., Microsoft Office).
- Ability to read, write, and understand English to comprehend written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
