Hims & Hers is seeking a Sr. Analytical Chemist, R&D who will report to the Sr. R&D Manager and will be responsible for supporting analytical testing for all new sterile & non-sterile Rx product launches across Hims & Hers Hair, Sex, Weight Loss and Mental Health Categories.
Location: This role will be based in Columbus, OH with travel to Arizona and third-party laboratory partner sites as needed to support launch activities.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytical Chemist to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting the development and quality assurance of our pharmaceutical products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Third Party Testing: Partner with qualified third-party testing laboratories to develop, evaluate and substantiate appropriate test methods for our products.
Analytical Method Development: Design, develop, and validate analytical methods for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and finished products, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive reports to support R&D new product development, process validation batches, equipment validations, formula optimizations, site transfers and tech transfers.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all analytical activities adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with due-diligence, project management, R&D formulation, and quality teams to support product development and resolve analytical challenges.
Analytical Strategy: Prepare documentation that supports the R&D testing strategy for new and existing products to minimize risk and ensure patient safety.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in analytical chemistry within the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on method development and validation.
Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, NMR, IR, UV, MS, and dissolution testing.
Experience with testing multi-analyte dosage forms such as tablets, chews, gummies, topicals and sterile injectables.
Strong understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Excellent problem-solving abilities with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and collaborative setting.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior managerial experience is a plus
Microbiological experience is a plus
Experience with compounded pharmaceutical products (sterile & non-sterile)
Familiarity with telehealth platforms and digital health solutions
