PFAS Laboratory Specialist Job Description We are seeking a PFAS Laboratory Specialist who is passionate about driving excellence in analytical methods and laboratory operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our laboratory results and reports. Responsibilities Review and approve analytical methods, protocols, procedures, reports, COAs, and other documents. Conduct validation of analytical methods and monitor QA/QC acceptance criteria for sample results and instrument calibrations according to method SOPs. Independently perform analyses including sample preparation, instrument operation, and results reporting. Maintain all instrumentation under a calibrated, well-documented state to provide accurate results. Lead responses to regular proficiency tests, audits, or other assessments required to maintain certifications and licenses. Assist in technical, administrative, and day-to-day operations of the laboratory to ensure work quality and a positive work environment. Participate in personnel decisions, including hiring, employee evaluations, promotions, and scheduling of operational staff. Sign off on training for new and current employees regarding operational modifications or updates. Ensure operational staff follow written policies, procedures, customer requirements, EPA methods, and certification standards. Assure employee compliance with all SOPs and in-house policies. Revise SOPs and update analyses, instrumentation, and methodologies. Implement, review, and authorize Corrective Action Reports, Nonconformance Reports, and Risk Awareness Plans. Complete analysis of results and report all completed jobs with authorization. Analyze samples and sign as an analyst when necessary. Review customer surveys and internal audits conducted by the Quality Assurance Manager. Develop, modify, verify, and validate methods. Provide professional customer service over the phone or on-site for clients or potential customers when additional information or explanation of results is needed. Stay informed on EPA's PFAS methods and industry developments, providing management with evaluations of our position in the industry relative to competition. Essential Skills Experience in laboratory chemistry and developing and implementing training programs. Proficiency with ALIMS programs for tracking instrument data. Experience working within a PFAS laboratory. Proficiency in performing proficiency testing and developing SOPs. Excellent communication skills as the primary point of contact for customers seeking PFAS testing. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related science. Experience with DOD and TNI 2016 standards. Work Environment This position is 100% on-site, operating Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Our smaller team functions collaboratively, with limited overtime required. We offer relocation assistance and a supportive environment focused on developing our people.
