Associate Research Scientist - Infectious Diseases

The Division of Infectious Diseases and Uhlemann Lab is seeking a highly motivated associate research scientist (PhD or MD/PhD) to study microbiome, comparative genomics, and microbial resistance. Projects include providing support to the Microbiome Core in the department of medicine. The selected candidate is expected to take the lead role in projects, support grant applications and manuscripts and contribute to supervising students and staff. We seek an energetic, inquisitive scientist who will work in a highly collaborative environment and who demonstrates critical thinking and scientific rigor. The laboratory is located in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, providing the candidate access to world-class resources and a highly collaborative, enriching scientific environment.

1. A Ph.D. in microbiology, genetics, molecular biology or a related field.

2. Experience in Metagenomic analysis for human disease samples

3. A strong background in one of the following areas: microbial genomics, developing virome pipeline

4. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
