Job Summary
The Brain Circuits Laboratory, led by Steven Small and Ana Solodkin, is seeking highly motivated post-doctoral scientists interested in understanding the neurobiology of language using naturalistic approaches and dynamic network modeling and/or studying multi-scale modeling of brain dynamics in neurodegenerative diseases.
The Research Associate will be primarily responsible for planning, conducting, and directing a wide variety of experiments, for evaluating and interpreting research data, all with a significant writing responsibility, including research protocols, IRB applications, grant proposals, and manuscripts. Supervision of graduate and undergraduate students is part of this responsibility. The position will involve conducting experiments using advanced human brain recording equipment; ingplex image acquisition and analysis techniques; and planning and executing experiments according to research protocols.
This position is in the Department of Neuroscience in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD bbs.utdallas.edu). UTD is the fastest growing University in Texas, and until reaching its 50th anniversary recently, was ranked number 1 in the nation among universities less than 50 years old. UT Dallas houses a vibrant researchmunity. The Solodkin/Small Brain Circuits Laboratory is physically located in the Texas Instruments Biomedical Engineering and Science Building on the campus of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, less than a mile away from the Callier Center for Communication Disorders, The UT Dallas Center for BrainHealth (which houses two Siemens Prisma 3T MRI systems), the UT Dallas Center for Vital Longevity (brain aging Institute), the University of Texas Advanced Imaging Research Center (which houses a 7T MRI scanner and a MEG unit), and the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry of UT Southwestern Medical Center. The city of Dallas is an international economic hub with a vibrant cultural atmosp and world-class sports and entertainment in a temperate climate.
The salary for Post-Doctoral Research Associates in BBS is determined by years of experience per the current NIH (NRSA) stipend levels. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications. This position is funded for a 1 year with the possibility of renewal, dependent on performance and continued funding availability.
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D in a related field.

REQUIRED:
Ph.D in a related field
HIGHLY PREFERRED:
Ph.D. in Cognitive or Systems Neuroscience, Neuroscience, Psychology, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, or Linguistics
A minimum of two first-author papers published or accepted in impactful peer-reviewed journals
A firm background in human neuroscience,putational and statistical methods, software tools for imaging, MRI scanning
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and execute new experiments in naturalistic brain imaging of language
Interpret data and build dynamic network characterizations
Write a number of articles as the first author
Supervise graduate students and undergraduate student researchers
Other duties assigned
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Basic knowledge in systems and/or cognitive neuroscience
Knowledge of brain imaging analysis methods
Knowledge of multivariate statistics and/or digital signal processing
Familiarity with the Unix operating system
Creative thinking skills and a predisposition for problem solving
Amand of the literature in the neurobiology of language and/or neurodegeneration
Kindness and ability to work collaboratively
Excellent oral and writtenmunication skills
Strong proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal)
