Assistant/Associate/Staff Scientist - Gorman Lab
Department: Arthritis & Clinical Immuno
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Gorman Lab is seeking and Assistant, Associate or Staff Scientist to design and conduct hypothesis-driven research projects; prepare reports and papers for publication, presentation and future research; assists with grant writing; and may oversee and/or manages research projects, summarize and present results, as well as guiding/leading graduate students, postdocs, and lab staff; may manage staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of scientific theory and research
  • Demonstrates skill in formulating and testing hypotheses
  • Ability to conduct scientific research experiments, analyze, and summarize data and results
  • Ability to write and present technical, scientific papers, and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Mentor students and guide/direct the work of less senior scientists
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Ph.D. in a biological science, chemistry, physics or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent
    • Highly motivated and enthusiastic about science.
    • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate and write summaries of result.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Strong publication track record (two or more first author publications).
    • Interest in autoimmune disease.
    • Experience in immunology.
    • Experience with small animal models of autoimmunity or infectious diseases and/or with human immunology.
    • Experience with Spectral Flow Cytometry.
    • Experience with tissue culture techniques.
