Kleinfelder is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist. Candidates must have a minimum of 12 years of environmental experience (15+ years is highly preferred). The ideal candidate will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of professional tasks, in the field and office, in our team-oriented environment. You will work with our environmental team performing technical evaluations, planning, and design. This role will help lead, inspire, and support our environmental disciplines, and most importantly help grow our portfolio of work with clients across multiple geographies, but primarily based in Utah.
Responsibilities:
- Strong experience with the design and construction of civil and/or environmental remediation projects.
- Leading technical efforts for planning, studies, budgeting, project cost estimating, technical management, coordination of multi-disciplinary engineering efforts, quality assurance, subcontract management and contract administration.
- Supervising subcontractors to successfully deliver technical projects and build/mentor staff in the group.
- Ability to effectively communicate design concepts to clients, participating in project scoping activities and proposal presentations, and coordinating with clients to ensure an ongoing positive relationship.
- Establishing strong, productive internal collaborative relationships with senior management.
- Lead preparation of work plans, investigation reports, feasibility studies, remedial design and implementation in accordance with CERCLA, RCRA, and other state led programs.
- Contribute to business development activities responding to market trends and technological advances to pursue and grow client engagement in the public and private sector.
- Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members and support internal technical training and mentorship programs.
- Play a significant leadership role in performing technical evaluations and developing conceptual site models on environmental projects.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Geology, environmental, or chemical engineering. Masters degree in environmental engineering or related field is preferred.
- Data validation experience is a plus.
- PG License in Utah.
- 12 + years of experience providing technical management of civil / environmental projects.
- Experience with Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and/or site investigations, collecting soil and groundwater samples, logging soil borings, installing and developing monitoring wells, data analysis is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of large/complex civil/environmental projects and experience coordinating the various engineering disciplines for successful project completion.
- A strong work ethic with excellent organizational, communication, computer and technical writing skills.
- Strong team building and communications skills.
- Experience with soil, groundwater and air treatment technologies
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
- Willingness to travel out of state.
