- Identify and monitor key process indicators (KPIs) and establish control systems to verify and optimize process and equipment performance.
- Compare equipment and process performance across operations/sites to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas of opportunity.
- Perform process analysis, including mass balance, to support process development and optimization to maximize capacity and minimize cost.
- Drive procedural updates, process optimizations, equipment upgrades, and system-level improvements.
- Design and execute lab-scale experiments and scale-up studies, documenting findings in high-quality technical reports.
- Support technology transfer and operational scaling for upstream and/or downstream biomanufacturing processes.
- Assist in process design, development, and validation efforts to ensure robust, scalable manufacturing capabilities.
- Create and maintain detailed process descriptions and user requirement specifications (URS) for both process and equipment.
- Serve as the technical owner of the process, equipment, and centerline settings to ensure consistent and reliable operations.
- Complete all core process design deliverables, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Heat and Material Balances, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs).
- Support equipment selection, sizing, installation, factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Ensure seamless integration of new equipment into manufacturing operations with proper validation and documentation.
- Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, training materials, and job aids in collaboration with production and maintenance.
- Develop training content and provide process expertise to ensure proper understanding and execution by operations teams.
- Strong chemical or biological science experience preferably in micro or biological sciences.
- Experience in biotechnology, fermentation, food-grade products, or similar environments.
- Two to five years of experience in process engineering or scientific roles.
- Proficient in process data analysis using Excel, JMP, Minitab, Python, or equivalent.
- Ability to perform heat and material balances, mass balances, and interpret process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, and control strategies.
- Experience developing and maintaining key manufacturing documents: URS, SOPs, Work Instructions, Process Descriptions, and Training Tools.
- Knowledge of process control systems (automation, instrumentation); programming or controls integration experience is a plus.
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and structured problem-solving methods such as RCA, 5 Whys, and PDCA.

The Scientist will work in the laboratory, facility, and office environments, engaging in all areas for respective job duties. This is a 1st shift role, Monday through Friday, with flexible hours typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30/4:30 p.m., totaling 40 to 45 hours per week.
