Job Description
Clean Harbors in Charleston, SC is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist ( Insite Chemist-MUSC) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste, lab packs in accordance with company policies and procedures. This position will involve working both indoors and outdoors at plants and laboratories across the Medical University of South Carolina and requires experience in a laboratory setting with a strong understanding of hazardous waste handling and lab packing procedures. - Prepare computer generated packing lists, labels, manifest, and land disposal restriction notifications
- Perform inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas
- Inspect storage area and drums for leaks or spills
- Responsible for final preparation and approval of all projects before shipment
- Understand customer specific disposal restrictions/special packaging requirements
- Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Associate degree required, with a minimum of two years of experience in lab packing and hazardous waste handling
- Bachelor's degree required, with a minimum of one year of experience in lab packing and hazardous waste handling
- Without a degree, candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience in lab packing and hazardous waste handling
- Valid Drivers license
- Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position
- Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.
