Job Description


TekPro Engineering is looking to hire a Process Automation Engineer to join a world-class chemical manufacturing organization in Sterlington, Louisiana . This engineer will be instrumental in developing and implementing process control strategies and system upgrades across the facility's Distributed Control Systems (DCS), working closely with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.

This is a critical role for ensuring 24/7 system support, driving automation improvements, and contributing to key capital and process safety projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modify and maintain control logic and HMI systems, including tag databases and data historians.
  • Troubleshoot and deploy automation sensors and control elements in a chemical plant environment.
  • Support and maintain hardware, collaborating with maintenance teams to resolve issues.
  • Develop and implement advanced control strategies across multiple platforms (Bailey Infi90, ABB 800xA, various PLCs).
  • Provide Real Time and long-term technical support to Operations, Maintenance, Logistics, and Regulatory teams.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM regulations and internal EH&S procedures.
  • Participate in automation-focused capital projects and long-term planning initiatives.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices within process control environments.
  • Contribute to performance improvements in yield, throughput, and product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical).
  • Proven experience with process automation systems in chemical manufacturing environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with multiple OEM control systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
