Position Summary:
We are now acceptingthe applications of highly motivated and qualified scientists for a researchscientist position on the development of innovative phase change materials(PCM) in Advanced Energy Systems and Microdevices Laboraotry ( in the Department of Mechanical and IndustrialEngineering ( at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Essential Functions:
Lab operations:
-Define physical and operational needs and develop PCM lab capability.
-Support purchasing, and cost estimation related to budgetary needs.
-Create standards and processes for project, product, test documentation, and SOPs.
-Experience developing a competent and efficient teamwork.
-Upskill resources for lab operations.
Research experiences:
-Develop in-house sample testing standards addressing customer requirements and industry benchmarks.
-Materials characterization using DSC and other thermal analysis methods.
-Hand-on testing, validation, and certification processes for various products and materials.
-Low-temperature phase change materials for thermal energy storage applications.
Research project experience:
-Responsible for research projects focused on the development, characterization, and validation of various low and subzero-temperature applications of phase change materials.
-Handle multiple projects related to various PCM products/applications development in response to current market needs in cold chain and refrigeration applications.
-Creating phase change materials for thermal energy storage systems Latent Heat Storage.
-Leading the development, analysis, and evaluation of technical specifications for purchases, including equipment components and materials.
-Developing and overseeing the installation of PCMs, with knowledge about filling, sealing, and capping in downstream applications.
-Direct various testing and simulation studies based on CTQs.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a specialization: in Thermal Energy Storage Materials/Phase Change Materials.
-Particularly in Low-temperature phase change materials for thermal energy storage applications.
-Undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated starting annual salary range for this position is $48,806.40 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
