The Assistive Reproductive Technologies (ART) Laboratory Manager of the University of Michigan Health Center for Reproductive Medicine at Bloomfield Hills provides leadership, support, and clinical expertise in the management of the ART Lab operations within the Center for Reproductive Medicine Ambulatory Care Unit. This position will provide direct oversight, support, and management of the daily ART Lab operational activities, along with administrative and financial responsibilities. This position directly reports to the ART Lab Director.

- Oversight and management of the human resource activities for the ART Lab, including interviewing, selecting, hiring, training, performance evaluation, competence assessment, handling complaints and grievances, disciplining when necessary, and discharging of staff with direction from the ART Lab Director and Administrative Manager.
- Schedule, plan, and direct ART lab staff work. Ensure sufficient staff are being scheduled to cover the daily lab workload and meet clinic needs. This includes weekend/holiday rotation scheduling, PTO approval, and time sheet approval.
- Clinic Operations
- Oversees day-to-day operations of the ART Lab
- Responsible for compliance with all regulatory regulations, including The Joint Commission (TJC), HHS-approved PT program, CAP accreditation, FDA, other regulatory agencies, and all Michigan Medicine policies and procedures.
- Ensures the ART Lab-specific standard operation protocols, policies, and procedures being implemented effectively in the lab.
- Oversee and facilitate ongoing bi-directional communication involving other workgroups in the clinic. Provide feedback to the ART Lab Director and Administrative Manager on operational issues.
- Identify opportunities for quality improvement and carry forward improvement initiatives.
- Assists clinic leadership with decision making around strategic initiatives, attainment of department/unit objectives, strategic service decisions and achievement of clinic specific goals and institutional strategic priorities.
- Monitors all work performed in the ART Lab to determine that medically reliable data are being generated and correlates laboratory data for diagnosis and patient management. Verify accuracy of documentation and sign off all appliable lab reports timely, and ensure the results are entered into relevant database.
- Rotate in daily laboratory procedures. The candidate must be competent to cover reproductive hormone testing, all andrology lab and embryology lab procedures, on an as-needed basis.
- Resolve any technical problem and ensure the remedial actions are taken timely whenever the result deviates from the lab established performance specifications. If applicable, making a prompt decision to minimize the adverse impact.
- Administrative and Financial Performance
- Actively participate in the leadership meetings, and provide data, action planning and other relative information to the administrative leadership meetings.
- Responsible for communicating performance metrics to the ART Lab staff.
- Monitor operational and financial performance metrics for the ART Lab and their role and contribution within the larger clinic structure.
- With direction from the clinic triad leadership & oversight triad leadership, assist with clinic level financial planning for the upcoming year
- Other duties as assigned.
- A bachelor's degree and reasonable professional experience with prior management, supervisory or team leader experience in a healthcare office setting is required.
- Prior experience working in an Assistive Reproductive Technologies Laboratory.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate teamwork necessary to leverage day-to-day operations.
- Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, and conflict management skills.
- Demonstrated skill in change management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory regulations, including The Joint Commission (TJC), HHS-approved PT program, CAP accreditation, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of the University of Michigan Health-Michigan Medicine policies and procedures.
Full-Time, Monday through Friday, and being accessible after hours.
