This is what you will do:
This position will play a key role in Alexions Viral Vector A nalytical D evelopment team , interacting with internal teams with in the Genomic Medicine and Product Development Clinical Supply teams . T he research associate will follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) to perform molecular and biochemical based assays to characterize recombinant adeno-associated viral ( rAAV ) vectors and other gene editing modalities to support process development and testing of pre-clinical grade research products.
You will be responsible for :
Perform ing routine analysis of rAAV vectors (qPCR, ddPCR , ELISA, a utomated protein and DNA electrophoresis )
Independently conduct ing assays for in-process and final products to determine viral vector product quality
Analyz ing data and record ing results in electronic lab notebook in a timely manner , writing reports, and communicating results to end users
Assisting with vector reference qualification and f urther develop ment of existing assays for improved performance
Writ ing technical reports and delivering scientific presentations summarizing data
You will need to have:
BS in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related scientific discipline
0 - 2 years of relevant academic or industry experience
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in following protocols is necessary
Must have strong organizational and communication skills
Strong desire to learn multiple techniques and willingness to provide support as required
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to work independently and effectively in a highly dynamic environment
The duties of this role are generally conducted in an lab environment . As is typical of a lab-based role, employees must be able , with or without an accommodation to: lift 15 pounds unassisted; work comfortably in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious, and hazardous materials; gown/ degown PPE; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
We would prefer for you to have:
Experience testing AAV , viral vectors, or other types of biologics
Experience with the p erformance of routine biological assays including qPCR, ddPCR , ELISA, SDS-PAGE, and agarose gel electrophoresis is desirable
The ability and desire to learn new techniques if needed
Candidates should be self-starters, comfortable with autonomy, and embrace opportunities to develop new genomic medicines as part of a dynamic team within Alexion.
