Goldbelt APEX is looking for a Laboratory Manager/Immunology Scientist II.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists and oversees the daily operations of the immunology laboratories.
- Manages the activities of the technical staff, ensuring the laboratory remains operational by maintaining sufficient materials, reagents, and calibrations, and ensuring that disposables and supplies are readily available.
- Organizes and participates in clinical and pre-clinical studies with a focus on immunological evaluation of enteric countermeasures.
- Provides training on SOPs and SSPs in support of pre-clinical and clinical studies.
- Contributes to the analysis and interpretation of data and results from immunological assays.
- Aids in the development and establishment of new procedures to assess the immune responses associated with enteric countermeasures.
- Contributes to writing and submitting reports, manuscripts, grant proposals, and presentations.
- Leads and participates in immunology lab meetings, Department meetings, and journal club activities.
- Assists in the recruitment of new personnel by working with the Contracting Company.
- Coordinates meetings, budget, and accounting, space management, personnel management, agreements, and purchasing under the supervision of the COR as related to the immunology laboratory.
- Coordinates the initiation and processing of purchase orders, supply sources, work orders, and maintenance requests specific to the immunology laboratory.
- Communicate with internal staff and external customers. Assists in managing the collection, maintenance, analysis, and evaluation of data used in grant submissions, presentations, and publications.
- Assists in ensuring all required reports are completed and submitted on time.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential in our collaborative research environment.
- Adapts to complex and rapidly changing research environments, effectively managing multiple projects with shifting priorities and constraints.
- Works independently with full responsibility for planning and executing complex projects.
- Fluency with Windows operating system, Apple Operating System, Microsoft Office software suite, Statistical analysis software packages (e.g., Prism), reference management systems (e.g., EndNote), software packages associated with instrumentation utilized in the laboratory (e.g., FloJo).
- Strong knowledge and experience in establishing various complex in vitro human primary cell assays.
- Expertise in RNA isolation methods and qPCR is desired. Knowledge of RNA-seq methodologies and analysis is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven track record of high research accountability and productivity both independently with minimal supervision and within a team setting in a matrix environment.
- Excellent agility to take on multiple tasks and practical time management skills.
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to prepare and present data to project teams and research management as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A PhD in immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a microbiological or immunological laboratory setting.
- Hands-on proficiency in primary immune cell isolation and culture is required.
- Experience with in vitro functional assays to characterize primary immune cells, including, but not limited to, cytotoxicity assays, cytokine/chemokine measurements, phenotypic characterization, and proliferation assessment.
- Experience in multi-parameter flow cytometry and data analysis is required.
- Experience with scientific team management and junior leadership.
- Extensive experience in designing, developing, and implementing Immune cell-based functional and biochemical assays is required
- Must be a US citizen (by birth or Naturalization).
- Ability to obtain NACI
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in multiplex ELISAs. Experience in flow cytometry and data analysis software is highly desired.
- Expertise in developing co-culture assays and developing novel functional read-outs is highly desirable.
Pay Range: $75,000 - 100,000 annually
