As a Materials and Processes Engineer youll work on a broad range of projects, in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment, that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career. Working side by side with design, manufacturing, and quality engineers, youll use your education, experience and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of space environments.
In this role you will:
Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments
Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions
Prepare technical reports, specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports.
Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement.
Lead technical projects with engineering teams, to meet program objectives
Typically looking for 3 to 10 years of professional experience
We're looking for:
A self-starter who develops solutions to technical issues
A motivated individual who's able to work closely within a geographically diverse team to resolve technical issues
Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines
The ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels
Technical leadership of cross-functional projects Skill Requirements
Materials Engineering related background and/or field of study
Understanding of material properties definitions
Experience reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications or reports, and providing guidance to engineers or stakeholders
Aerospace-related experience with metallic additive manufacturing (e.g. laser powder bed fusion)
Experience with metallics/metallurgy and composites
Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
Security Clearance / Work Authorization
To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected applicant to be a U.S. Citizen Knowledge of Materials and Processes for product development, improvement, design, application and production
Experience establishing and implementing technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.)
Knowledge of environmental and operational requirements for materials in space or missile applications (oxidation, thermal stress, radiation, etc)
Knowledge of laboratory material test/evaluation methods (mechanical, optical, surface chemistry, etc.)
Experience with design and analysis of mechanical fasteners
Work experience independently resolving issues related to manufacturing, development, and failure analysis
