The Position
Forensic Specialists perform a combination of security and client care duties in a secure mental health facility for treatment/evaluation of the mentally and/or medically ill offender and/or offenders whose competency requires evaluation.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) Forensic Services is currently recruiting for a Forensic Specialist 4 at Stein Forensic Hospital. This is a secure forensic hospital that houses court-committed clients for competency restoration and provides inpatient and outpatient services. All persons committed and ordered by the courts are to remain in Forensic custody in a secure facility. The Forensic Specialist 4 performs a variety of supervisorial for daily forensic operations. This position supervises and manages all security and safety functions to include but not limited to unit operations, client safety, transportation (internal and external), incident response, accident investigations, visiting, and attorney meetings. The Forensic Specialist 4 will also be responsible for administrative and clerical duty functions ton include but not limited to, hospital staffing, training, reporting writing, maintaining logs and trackers, timesheets approvals, employee's appraisals, employee disciplinary process, court hearings, and attend mandatory meetings, committees, and treatment teams.
