We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Principal Scientist, BioTherapeutics Process Development to be onsite in Malvern, PA.

Purpose:

The API Upstream Process Development Group is searching for a highly qualified and accomplished individual to join the API Upstream Process Development team as a Senior Principal Scientist.

You will lead development and implementation of cell-biology based computational methodologies to optimize biotherapeutic processes and cell culture media. You will be part of CMC team(s) and play a significant role in successful delivery of project deliverables. This position is highly cross functional and will require intellectual agility and interpersonal skills to work across different modalities, e.g., project teams, analytical, statistical, cell biology, and data scientists.

You will be responsible for:

  • Advancing pipeline by collaborating with multi-functional teams, including bioprocess engineers, analytical scientist, and statisticians
  • Participating or leading process optimization, characterization, and/or tech transfer & scale up/down workflow
  • Serving as a scientific leader in metabolic pathways-based analysis (e.g. MFA/FBA)
  • Developing and embedding advanced data analytics tool for cell culture & media optimization
  • Contributing to strategic initiatives
  • Mentoring and upskilling workforce

Qualifications / Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related fields is highly preferred

Required:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry and academic experience
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial bioprocessing, cell culture, cell biology, and/or system biology
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB, and experience with relevant packages and software tools
  • Expertise in mathematical/computational approaches for metabolic pathways (e.g. MFA/FBA)
  • Strong project and technical leadership skills demonstrated by successful management and delivery of CMC deliverables
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Good written and oral communication skills

Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience with industrial CMC process development
  • Experience/in-depth knowledge of model-based regulatory filings
