We are looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our growing team. The Environmental Scientist is a key role, responsible for conducting research, assessments, and implementing strategies to conserve the environment and promote sustainability. The role is responsible for data analysis, reporting, stakeholder engagement and project management.
Responsibilities
Conducing environmental research and studies to assess natural resources, ecosystems, and pollution levels
Performing fieldwork, collect samples and gather data using various methods and equipment
Analyzing environmental data, including air, and water quality, soul composition, and biodiversity
Interpreting findings to evaluate environmental impacts and identify potential risks
Preparing detailed reports documenting research findings, data analysis, and recommendations
Collaborating with organizations, government agencies and communities to promote eco-friendly practices
Engaging stakeholders in environmental planning, decision-making, and public outreach
Provide education and training on environmental issues, regulations, and best practices
Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and standards
Assisting in obtaining environmental permits and approvals for projects
Managing environmental projects, including groundwater monitoring and Phase I & II
Environmental Site Assessment
Creating and updating proposals for various project, ensuring project budgets and schedules are met
Analyzing reports, maps, drawings and other data to plan and design projects effectively
Preparing cost estimates, proposals, and invoices and track project deliverables to meet quality standards and client expectations
Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria), may or may not be required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role
Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
Highly organized and able to multitask
Self-driven and dynamic in a team environment
Good verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software
Ability to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients
Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports
Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology or related field (Master's degree preferred)
Previous experience in environmental research, assessments, and project management
Previous experience in an A/E/C firm
Proficiency in data analysis, GIS Software and technical report writing
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
Ability to solve problems, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Knowledge of environmental regulations, best practices and safety procedures
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear. Body motions and movements include: bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Lifting and/or occasionally moving up to 10 lbs. can be expected, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
Occasional driving may be required
