The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Provides routine technical support for research activities and/or laboratory support. Adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet specialized needs. Assists with the design of new experiments, multimedia sampling, maintenance, operation and calibration of scientific monitoring equipment for research projects. Responsible for general data collection and assists with analysis, recruiting participants. May support and assist other technicians.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Laboratory Functions
- Provide research support to principal investigator, managers, and other lab staff
- Maintain animal colony
- Assist with collection and processing of biological data/samples
- Learn and perform new techniques as applicable
- Review and evaluate data for statistical analysis and perform simple statistical analyses as needed
Study Documentation and Correspondence
- Serve as point of contact for study matters
- Maintain detailed notes and data in manner directed by lab manager.
- Maintain inventories and databases as needed
- Collaborate with personnel in other departments as needed
Regulatory Responsibilities
- Maintain biological and chemical hazard safety guidelines.
- Review and uphold laboratory regulatory protocols as written.
Study Analysis
- Assist with data analysis and preparation of materials for publication.
- Prepare and collate study information, status reports and updates as necessary for reporting on progress of studies in order to accomplish a timely completion.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED and 1 year experience performing basic sampling, monitoring or research activities, compiling and collecting data and preparing reports required
- Bachelor's degree in health science, Biology, Chemistry or other science related field of study preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to effectively manage complex research protocols/procedures REQUIRED
- Fully adheres to applicable safety and/or infection control standards REQUIRED
- Proficiency in managing multiple and competing priorities/demands PREFERRED
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills; highly collaborative, promotes teamwork PREFERRED
- Ability to build collaboration among research team members, laboratory staff, patients and families PREFERRED
- Proficient in MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), email, internet PREFERRED
