PAY RANGE: Environmental Analyst I: $59,100 - $73,900
Environmental Analyst II: $72,400 - $90,500
Sr. Environmental Analyst: $81,800 - $109,100
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Job may require additional hours with short notice including evenings and weekends.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision of the Supervisor of Environmental Services, will oversee the planning, administration, and implementation of Evergy's stack testing group, Evergy Testing and Analytics, to conduct routine regulatory compliance testing, engineering studies, and RATA testing in compliance with the relevant EPA test methods.
Primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, stack testing and combustion turbine and boiler tuning support. All of which includes setting up equipment, collecting air emissions samples at electrical generating facilities in accordance with EPA standards, data handling procedures, report creation, and equipment maintenance. Candidate must be able to process field data and complete emission calculations, support equipment repair, calibration, and maintenance, write test protocols, and test reports. This position will spend significant time in an industrial environment with multiple hazards that will vary as weather conditions change.
This position also places a top priority on safety and proactively seeks ways to mitigate potential hazards.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 1 to 5 Years' Experience in emission testing with instrumental and isokinetic EPA testing methods.
- Experience emission testing at electric generating power plants (Preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or Biology (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of all applicable EPA emission testing methods
- Ability to successfully operate independently and in a team environment
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required
- Have a working knowledge of electrical generating facilities.
- Ability to leverage technology in completion of assigned tasks.
- Establish a good working relationship with plant and other business unit personnel.
- Possess excellent scheduling skills and a progressive, dynamic attitude toward problem solving.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- QSTI certification (Preferred)
Working Conditions:
The work is performed inside and outside. Job requires ability to climb vertical ladders, work at extreme heights, and lift and carry a 50-pound load. Candidate must be able to work in extreme weather conditions. Some overnight travel and evening and weekend work may be required. Candidate must have an excellent work record including good attendance.
