EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) in Indianapolis, IN. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.Essential duties and responsibilities Preparation and analysis of microbiological samples (air, water, bulk materials and food) for fungi and bacteriaClassical and advanced methods for microbial and bio-aerosol analysisQuantitative and qualitative analysis for food to include: aerobic plate count, total coliform, E.coli, Staphylococcus aureus, yeast and mold, salmonella, and listeriaAnalysis of bacteria cultures to include common environmental bacteria such as Micrococcus, MRSA, Legionella, Bascillus, etc. Confirmation analysis of presumptive and suspect isolatesGenerate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as neededPerform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manualAdministrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phonesOther responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager Requirements:Bachelors Degree in Life Science is required, preferably in Biology or MicrobiologyAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely and without restriction or sponsorshipLaboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plusExperience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, food microbiology or other culture-based microbiology, bacteriology, or mycology is a plusWork with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis Physical requirements include sitting and standing for various lengths of timeAbility to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude Effective time management organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistanceAvailable shift:Positions is full-time time Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Training to start will be Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidate currently living within a commutable distance of Indianapolis, IN are encouraged to applyEMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending account.
