Job Description

The Lab Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of wet chemistry tests on chemical products. The role involves conducting GC and titrations on a daily basis, along with other lab testing such as FTIR, viscosity, pH, specific gravity, and more. Documenting both on paper and computer, reviewing batch records, and preparing them for customers are integral parts of the job. The technician will interact with customers regarding orders, quality paperwork, and testing information, and will assist with quality tests in the absence of the QC lead.

Responsibilities

• Perform wet chemistry tests on chemical products.
• Conduct GC and titrations daily.
• Execute lab testing such as FTIR, viscosity, pH, specific gravity, etc.
• Document testing data and quality data on paper and computer.
• Review and prepare batch records for customers.
• Collaborate with customers on orders, quality paperwork, and testing information.
• Assist with quality tests in the absence of the QC lead.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on lab experience within a food, chemical, pharma, or similar lab environment.
• Proficiency in GC, FTIR, viscosity, pH, specific gravity, etc.
• Experience in chemistry, biology, and wet chemistry.
• Knowledge of gas chromatography.
• Ability to work independently and with customers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in traditional sciences.
• Understanding of GLP's.
• Experience with HPLC and analytical testing.

Work Environment

This is a first shift position starting at 6:00 a.m. and ending between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The technician will primarily work in the QC laboratory, engaging in GC and wet chemistry techniques, and will frequently collaborate with the QC Lead and interact with customers. The position requires 40 to 45 hours of work weekly, with potential for up to 50 hours when busy. The work setting is within a chemical manufacturing company, involving unique smells and chemical products. The environment is casual, promoting teamwork and idea sharing, with a dress code that includes steel toes, safety glasses, plain shirt, and jeans.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
