Job Purpose:
The Quality Technician position was created to replace the existing Quality Auditor role in an effort to employ a more technical discipline on the plant floor. The technician will perform product audits, trouble shoot nok and rejects from the line, root cause analysis. Where improvements are needed, the technician will contribute as part of the team to implement improvements and corrective actions. This position will provide many opportunities to learn new disciplines and to develop mathematical and critical thinking skills.
Primary:
- Daily Check Sheet review
- Document Control Review (latest revision in use).
- Compliance to Work Standards, Product Check Sheets, Process check Sheets, FMEA Check Sheets (where applicable), Quality Alerts, Cleaning Standards, Visual Displays, KPC/KCC Placards Present, Model Specification (where applicable), Gage Calibration/Verification, etc.
- Review of suspect parts placed in Quality Market with QE, SQA, and Supervisor.
- Reject review (tear down, etc) as applicable (example: Damping force).
- Assist in problem solving for internal and external quality concerns.
- Provides technical assistance to manufacturing in trouble shooting processes.
- Create Quality Alert as needed.
- Familiarity with lab equipment, mechanical testing and heat treat to support production testing requirements.
- Measure dimensions of components/products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, profile meter, video microscope, hardness tester etc.
- Conducts dock audits, and other quality related activities when required.
- Participates in team activities (i.e. TFT, Kaizen, PSP, etc.).
- Communicate quality related information to those responsible for products (production personnel, maintenance, production engineer, quality engineer, supplier quality, etc.).
- Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems and assist in identifying root cause of problems.
- Daily report of daily activities
- Complies with all safety policies and procedures.
- Will be required to train others.

Process Auditing
- Verify each assembly line follows all Control Plan requirements
- Verify each assembly line is not deviating from Control Plan requirements
- Verify all Work Standards and Instructions are being followed
- Verify all Process and Product Check Sheets are being completed properly and with Integrity
- Verify certification and use of all PFMEA samples
- Verify completion of all PFMEA Check Sheets
- Verify all Filter and Fluid Cycle Tables
- Verify all machine settings per control plan requirements
- Verify calibration per calibration schedule
- Verify all Master Samples
- Verify Lot Codes and Julian Dates per respective line Suspension- Julian date, Brakes & MDC lot codes, and Steering None
Process/Product Audit Findings
- Document all findings on the Process Auditing NCM Matrix (Form # F – 329)
- Define each finding as Observation, NCM or CAR
- Input Supplier internal findings into the NCM management system

- Assist with closing open / pending issues

- Maintain Training Matrix for Process Auditing Group

Qualifications and Competencies:
Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or equivalent (post high school education/training preferred)
- Manufacturing / quality experience minimum of 3 years
- Reading comprehension and math / analytical skills are a plus
- Proficient in computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point, e-mail, etc.)
