Position Overview :

As a Mechanical Development Engineer within Mercury Marines Test & Development team you will develop exhaust/cooling and mechanical systems. As a member of the Mechanical Development group, youll share responsibility for the design, testing, development, and validation of engine fuel, lubrication, cooling, exhaust, valve train and power cylinder systems for Mercury Outboards, MerCruiser Sterndrive engines, and Mercury high-speed diesel marine engines.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the development test activities for thermal and mechanical systems.

  • Understand functional requirements and design system to meet program goals.

  • On new product design, work with component engineers and the analysis group to ensure component designs meet the system requirements.

  • Develop component & system FMEA, DVP and execute tests, both on the dynamometer and on boat.

  • Utilize Concerto / Uniplot / Catman software packages to analyze data and make recommendations for product improvement.

  • Communicate test results and recommendations to Design Engineering and Program Management.

  • Create technical reports documenting development activities.

  • Must be able to work independently when needed to develop solutions with little supervision. Must also be able to work well with cross-functional groups including technicians, design engineers, analysis engineers, and program managers.

  • Support company goals within a team structure and as an individual.

  • Act as a liaison between PD&E and manufacturing to support end of line test improvements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 2+ years of engineering experience working with internal combustion engines, thermal, fluid, and mechanical systems.

  • A strong working knowledge fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

  • Hands-on engine experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 3+ years engineering experience working with internal combustion engines, lubrication, thermal, and fluid systems.

  • Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation selection.

  • Experience with system modeling tools such as GT-Suite / LMS Amesim / Simulink.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $74,600 - $119,500 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus program. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidates qualifications and the business context.
