Position Summary: The Formulation Scientist, Tech Ops will play a key supporting role in providing technical support to manufacturing of core products, enhancing quality and productivity. Working closely with the Director, Scientific Operations, this position will assist in quality performance evaluation of core, root cause analysis of products and raw materials, raw material review, and the scale-up process, ensuring products meet high-quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role will contribute to creating effective, consumer-focused health and wellness solutions in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform analytical data review of products and raw materials to ensure compliance and quality.
- Develop appropriate formulation or analytical responses based on analytical data assessments.
- Conduct investigations into non-conforming materials (NCMs) and out-of-specification (OOS) results, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Review stability plans and develop appropriate formulation or analytical responses to maintain product compliance.
- Periodically revise and enhance analytical testing methods for Thorne’s product portfolio to improve accuracy and efficiency in collaboration with QC Lab.
- Collaboratively conduct ingredient research and material evaluation to support the sourcing of raw materials in partnership with procurement and external suppliers.
- Assist in conducting material manufacturing for clinical pilot trials following cGMP standards.
- Participate in troubleshooting technical challenges related to core product performance and manufacturing processes, proposing solutions in collaboration with the team.
- Ensure formulations comply with regulatory, labeling, and quality standards, working with QA/QC and Regulatory Affairs leads.
- Execute formula and raw material specification changes to core products through the change control process.
What You Need
- Experience and/or Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field of dietary supplements, or a related field (internship experience is acceptable).
- Familiarity with GMP standards and regulatory requirements for dietary supplements is a plus
