Organization Overview:
The Bioanalytical Research Group (BAR) at the Lilly Corporate Center, Indianapolis, IN is seeking a motivated post-doctoral research scientist skilled in RNA and protein biochemistry and mass spectrometry. The successful candidate will help deliver innovative approaches in our evaluation of the ADME of therapeutic proteins, peptides, and new modalities such as RNA-based therapeutics.
The team collaborates with toxicology, PK/PD, Biotechnology Discovery Research, and multiple therapeutic areas to help discover and characterize optimal biotherapeutic candidates to advance to clinical testing, across a wide variety of modalities. The post-doctoral position will contribute to an effort to develop and enhance current mass spectrometric approaches to investigate the biotransformation of genetic medicines during pre-clinical testing.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities for this position include:
- The development and application of novel LC/MS-based assays to measure complex therapeutic RNA modalities in a wide variety of biological matrices, including tissues.
- Refine current workflows used to investigate the in vivo biotransformation of genetic medicine modalities.
- The application of mass spectrometric approaches to answer mechanistic questions related to target engagement, biotransformation, and biodistribution.
- Attend and present at scientific meetings and author manuscripts for publication in scientific journals
Basic Requirements:
- Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology, bioengineering, biology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, or equivalent.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Research experience using high resolution orbitrap mass spectrometry to explore structural changes to proteins and/or nucleic acids.
- Expertise using informatic applications to interpret complex mass spectrometric data related to structural characterization of proteins and/or nucleic acids.
- Experience with affinity-based sample preparation techniques such as immunoprecipitation and/or hybridization approaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong work planning, record keeping and data analysis skills.
- Experience using nanoLC and nanoSpray ionization mass spectrometry.
- Experience supervising or mentoring laboratory personnel.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidates education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$58,000 - $100,320Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
