What does a successful Sr. Staff Software Development Engineer do at Fiserv?

Join Clovers Retail team as a Senior Staff Software Engineer, where youll lead and mentor a talented group of developers building the next-generation online shopping experience for our merchants. Youll play a key role in shaping the future of our platform through high-impact backend development in Java, collaborating closely with Product, Infrastructure, and Design to deliver new features on a fast, iterative release cycle. What you will do:

• Lead the design and development of backend services that power Clovers online shopping experience, shaping the future of retail for our merchants.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and design teams to turn business needs into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
• Write, test, and debug advanced Java code, ensuring performance and reliability across our platform.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs for mobile apps, web dashboards, payment devices, and third-party integrations.
• Own your services end-to-endfrom initial development through deployment, monitoring, and support in production.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers, helping grow the teams technical expertise and best practices.
• Participate in thoughtful design and code reviews to maintain code quality and promote learning.
• Work with infrastructure partners to build robust, scalable data models that support high-availability services.

What you will need to have:

• Bachelor's Degree (preferably Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent combination of experience, education and military.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• 5+ years of experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• 4+ years of experience designing and implementing APIs.
• 4+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• 4+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• 4+ years of experience in Agile development environments.

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
