The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Radiology Chair Office, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Research Scientist to join their team

General Responsibilities

A Research Scientist conducts advanced studies in a specific field, applying specialized knowledge to drive research projects. This role involves data analysis, interpretation of results, and contribution to scientific literature. The position requires collaboration with peers and adherence to established protocols, with moderate autonomy and responsibility for project deliverables. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs PET drug Quality Control testing involving sterility, gas chromatography, HPLC, TLC, pH, and other various related test in accordance with FDA requirements.
  • Maintains cGMP compliance for cyclotron facility operations.
  • Follows site-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) for facility.
  • Understands and contributes to radiation safety protocol and procedures.
  • Supports daily production of PET isotopes and the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Provides maintenance and repair of PET Manufacturing production and analytical equipment in accordance with manufacture specifications and cGMP's.
  • Performs various clean-up and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Trouble shoot production issues.
  • Inventory, order, receive and stock production materials.
  • Works safely with radioactive materials.
  • Capable of lifting 50 Ibs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $ 70,425- $80,000

Qualifications

Doctorate degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience OR Master s degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience OR Bachelor s degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

  • Obtain DOT certification for shipping of radioactive materials.
