POSITION TITLE: Scientist, Sana Innovation Team
POSITION DUTIES: Responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and testing libraries of novel constructs for next generation gene therapy vectors, with an eye towards engineering novel functions into the vector. Develop and institute novel assays for testing vectors (flow cytometry, protein characterization assays, and others), including testing the activity of the vectors in cell lines and key primary cells in vitro. Characterize gene expression and cell-identity markers in mammalian cells using flow cytometry, microscopy, and qPCR. Understand and apply relevant scientific literature to the design of experimental protocols. Maintain detailed electronic lab notebook and registration of constructs and biologics. Follow Standard Operating Procedures and develop new protocols when necessary.

Experience with mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, FACS sorting
Experience with molecular cloning techniques and sequencing (E.g., DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, NGS library generation, transient gene expression)
Experience with protein characterization (E.g., ELISA, western-blots, BLI) and protein display technologies (E.g., phage, yeast, mammalian)
Experience handling large data sets in Excel including sorting and filtering data, using shortcuts and formula functions, and building charts and graphs.
Experience with automation workflows (E.g., EP Motion, Tecan, Hamilton, Viaflow, CyBio Felix).
In the alternative, employer will accept a Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field, or the foreign degree equivalent and 3 years of laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting, to include two years in each of the skills listed above.
