Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting chemical characterization testing of medical devices. The role requires applying chemistry skills in standard and sample preparation, as well as initiating instrumental testing using FTIR, GCMS, LCMS, or ICPMS techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on testing in the analytical chemistry laboratory, including sample preparation, extractions, solvent exchange, concentration gravimetric determination of non-volatile residue, and standard preparation.
  • Support development, validation, and qualification of analytical methods.
  • Prepare analysis summary reports and documentation to communicate results to laboratory customers and the technical community.
  • Complete tasks related to analytical lab documentation and quality records.
  • Support qualification and maintenance of analytical instrumentation.
  • Conduct lab maintenance activities such as ordering glassware, washing, and other lab monitoring tasks.
  • Familiarity with ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agency requirements for chemical characterization of medical devices and combination products.
  • Apply scientific principles and company policies to analyze data or situations and exercise judgment to recommend solutions.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and documented quality processes and procedures.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry with an aptitude for analytical chemistry.
  • 0-2 years of experience, including post-graduate internships.
  • Experience in the preparation of samples, standards, and laboratory solutions.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and scientific laboratory documentation.
  • Experience in wet chemistry and bench chemistry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Exposure to Chromatography Data Systems.
  • Experience with chemical characterization analysis per ISO standards.
  • Proficiency in HPLC or GC instrument analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to apply ISO requirements to laboratory work.
  • Experience performing analyses and preparing documentation within FDA, ISO, and other regulatory environments.
  • Previous work experience in medical device or pharmaceutical company analytical chemistry labs, particularly in chromatography characterization and investigative analyses.
Work Environment

The work environment is a regulated laboratory setting where lab coats and safety glasses will be provided. Employees must wear closed-toed shoes and pants, as shorts are not permitted. The lab is equipped with pipettes, laboratory balances, hoods, storage equipment, and dishwashers.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
