- Conduct testing on in-process and finished samples using ASTM methods.
- Document results manually and in an electronic system.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation including titrations, viscosity, flash point, penetration, moisture analysis, IR, and GC.
- Perform pH testing as needed.
- Follow work orders each shift to accomplish tasks within the allotted time.
- Proficiency in titrations, viscosity measurements, and pH testing.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and procedures.
- Experience in analytical chemistry and quality control.
- Currently a sophomore or junior in college studying Chemistry.
- Experience with gas chromatography and FTIR is a plus.
- Exposure to working with solvents and grease.
The laboratory facility is older and slightly messy due to working with oil products, but it is fully equipped with various instruments. The role involves making grease for testing, which requires cleaning a lot of glassware and is considered tedious. Products are shipped in 55-gallon drums and bulk liquid containers. The lab will have one person on the weekend shift, working primarily from 8 AM to 5 PM on Saturdays, with flexibility to cover Sundays as needed. Training will take 4-6 weeks, and the ideal candidate will continue working while finishing their degree.
