What we want

The Postdoctoral Research Associate, under general supervision, is responsible for conducting research into their field of expertise. T he Postdoctoral Research Associate will utilize the skills and expertise granted to them by their education and experience to complete research projects in their field of expertise. Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications. Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite . Initial studies will focus on burn wounds, improving healing, and assessing multiple wound factors using imaging and sensors. This is a part-time position, working 19.5 hours per week.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate PhD in a related field

  • No experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work with large animal models

  • Experience with tissue culture and primary cell isolation

  • Knowledge of immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry

  • Experienced with animal models

  • Prior experience with wound healing research

Responsibilities

Research

  • Under general supervision, is responsible for conducting research into their field of expertise.

  • Utilizes knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and expertise to complete research projects in their field of expertise.

  • Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite.

  • Analyzes research data and summarizes results.

  • Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.

  • Designs, plans, conducts and coordinates experiments in support of various research projects.

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques of routine and non-standard research, keeping detailed records of data.

  • Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.

  • Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates research projects.

  • Recommends project guidelines, procedures, policies, rules and regulations.

  • Establishes, installs, maintains, operates and/or repairs research equipment.

  • Works with staff at the Texas A&M Institute for Preclinical Studies (TIPS) using large animal models (pigs).

  • Works with collaborators to develop preliminary data and analyze animal model outcomes

  • Develops tissue culture assays to support research goals and isolation of primary cells

  • Performs flow cytometry experiments

  • Performs immunohistochemistry experiments and analysis

Mentoring

  • May assist, mentor, and/or supervise student researchers and/or graduate students who are working on research related to the project.

  • Trains undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.

Presentations

  • Prepares presentation materials on research topic that may be presented to small and/or large groups.

  • Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.

Research Publications:

  • Utilizes summarized results in scientific and/or clientele-oriented publications.

  • Prepares and writes proposals to funding agencies and maintains financial accounts related to research projects.

Manages Supplies

  • Orders and verifies receipt of orders through AggieBuy

  • Oversees training and certifications of students and trainees in the research environment
