Job Description
The Notre Dame Biophysics Instrumentation Core (BIC) seeks to hire a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join our team. This full-time position, available immediately, is part of a strategic expansion of the BIC. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work at the forefront of optical and other techniques to measure biomolecular structure and interactions, and their effects on cell function.
The successful candidate will work closely with Notre Dame faculty, staff scientists, graduate students, and external partners to advance multidisciplinary research projects, including developing and applying robust methods for flow cytometry and other quantitative biophysical approaches.
Additional responsibilities include using computational tools to process and analyze data from flow cytometers, cell sorters and other biophysical instruments, assisting BIC colleagues in the maintenance of the cytometers and other biophysical instruments, contributing to the overall operational effectiveness of the BIC, and building upon the BIC's strong track record of collaborating with campus colleagues to write successful grant proposals to support new instrument purchases.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will report to Dr. Patricia L. Clark, Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry and BIC Faculty Director.
Qualifications
PhD in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related field
Practical and technical knowledge of instrumentation and techniques for flow cytometry and other biophysical approaches
Familiarity with flow cytometry data processing and instrument maintenance
Proven ability to work independently within a research lab
