Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear/Mechanical Thermal-Hydraulic Engineering Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the Thermal-Hydraulics Experiment and Modeling & Simulation department. The team works a 9x80 schedule located at the Research and Education Campus in Idaho Falls with every other Friday off.

Technical tasks will focus on modeling and computational studies related to conventional and advanced nuclear reactors.

Experience with MOOSE modeling tools

Experience with development and/or analysis of RELAP5-3D

Experience in thermal-hydraulic experiments, from experiment design to data-analytics.

Experience with verification and validation methods of Thermal Hydraulic test facilities and system codes.

Requires nuclear engineering application and knowledge to apply knowledge of reactor systems, nuclear safety requirements, the RELAP5-3D computer code, thermal-hydraulic phenomena related to heat transfer, fluid flow, and reactor kinetics.

Qualifications

Ph.D. requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years

* Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related field

* Knowledge of nuclear science and engineering modeling techniques

* Previous experience modeling nuclear related phenomena

* Proficiency with a coding language

* Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in English

* Demonstrated expertise (through peer-reviewed publications) in principles of nuclear thermal-hydraulic simulation

* Demonstrated ability to work closely with multi-disciplinary groups to achieve research results

Job Information:

Salary: $101,196 Annually
