Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate II for the Cellular Imaging and Histology Core Department within New Jersey Medical School. Research Associate II (The primary role of the Spatial Biology Specialist) will be to assist in the development and implementation of highly multiplexed immunofluorescent, spatial transcriptomic and spatial gene expression assays in the Cellular Imaging and Histology Core at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. They will be responsible for the histological preparation of biological samples for use in spatial biology studies and in the operation and maintenance of instrumentation required for spatial biology studies, including high-end microscopy systems. They will be expected to assist researchers in the design of spatial biology experiments and in the processing and interpretation of the data generated. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Responsible for the preparation of histologic specimens for the use in immunohistochemical, immunofluorescent, highly multiplexed immunofluorescent, spatial transcriptomic and spatial gene expression assays. Oversee the preparation and analysis of routine molecular pathology assays, including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and multiple label fluorescence imaging assays. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Akoya Bioscience PhenoImager Fusion highly multiplexed immunofluorescence spatial biology imaging system. Responsible for the successful implementation of 10x Genomics Visium & Xenium technology for the spatial expression analysis of the transcriptome. Accountable for the digital whole slide scanning of brightfield and fluorescent slides utilizing the Zeiss Axioscan 7 microscopic slide scanner for users of the core facility. Assist with several of the molecular pathology techniques performed in the Cellular Imaging and Histology Core, including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization and TUNEL assays. Minimum Education and Experience: Ph.D. Degree or equivalent in a relevant science, or a Master's Degree in a relevant science plus three (3) years of related research experience.
