Description/Duties:

The selected candidate will conduct research into composition, structure, properties, relationships, and reactions of matter. The Chemist will confer with scientists and engineers regarding research, prepare technical papers and reports, as well as prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct research, analysis, synthesis, and experimentation on substances, for such purposes as product and process development and application, quantitative/qualitative analysis, and improvement of analytical methodologies.
• Develop new equipment, as well as formulas, processes, and methods for solving technical problems.
• Analyzes organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties, utilizing such techniques as chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry. This includes changes in composition of substances by introduction of heat, light, energy, and chemical catalysts.
• Conducts research on manufactured products to develop and improve products.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must have a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in chemistry or a related field is highly desired.
• Graduate studies in a related field of study is desired.
