An Exposure Scientist at CTEH is responsible for growth of the Applied Science Group (ASG) Program through technical leadership, revenue generation, and mentor-based growth of ASG Scientists. This position resides within the ER Sciences Division of the Emergency Response (ER) department structure. The ER Sciences Division supports two specific disciplines of Emergency Response: public health with responding toxicologists and occupational health with exposure scientists. This position will provide parallel technical direction, focused mainly on occupational health of responding workers, chemical safety, and Industrial Hygiene (IH)-related needs for emergency response, as well as other exposure-related projects. This position will also provide technical support to other internal CTEH divisions, including internal professional development and growth of ASG supporting scientists. This candidate must have a strong understanding of emergency response health & safety principles, practices, and be able to implement strategies to protect workers during emergencies involving IH-focused hazards. The primary distinction between Senior and Exposure Scientists is the amount of experience in a comparable capacity Incumbents enter the ASG Growth Model at a level appropriate to their education, experience, certifications, and skills with the ability to gain vertical career growth through training, gained experience and prescribed benchmarks. The Exposure Scientist will be maintain readiness to support client needs for emergency response which may include frequent travel. This position reports to Principal/Senior Scientist of ASG. Time Type: Full-Time Pay Range: $73,400 - $99,700 (commensurate with experience) BENEFITS Health Insurance with PPO/HDP options Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Flexible Spending Account (with PPO) Health Savings Account (with HDP) Life Insurance/AD&D Insurance Short- & Long-Term Disability 401-K Retirement Savings Plan Annual Incentive Compensation Plan Paid Time Off Paid Holidays Paid Sick Leave Paid Parental Leave Professional Development Assistance Employee Assistance Program ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE OF WORK Develop and implement strategies designed to reduce occupational exposure during emergency response and other IH-focused hazards; On our client's behalf, prescribe, implement, and direct strategies for multi-employer site safety; Fill Assistant Safety Officer (ASOFR) and Deputy SOFR roles, both in Unified Command and Incident Command structure, thereby serving as a primary technical representative to client and local, state, and federal agency representatives; Initiate regional growth and maintain staff leadership to improve geographic footprint; Revenue management of ASG projects and internal project growth goals, annually; Project-based technical development and mentorship of rapid responders, environmental scientists, and supporting scientists within ASG; Revenue management through direct client interaction and prescriptive solutions both in ER and non-ER projects; Participation in external training, content creation, litigation, and sophisticated hazard/exposure scenarios; Able to deliver professional presentations at notable conferences and public forums; Participate in ASG research and publications; Business development both within ER and scopes of work outside of ER; Performs such other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (minimum) in industrial hygiene or safety; or, Bachelor's degree in a related science field (chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, toxicology, etc.); Advanced computer skills in a Windows-based platform Working towards eligibility to sit for Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) exam within first year of operation; Recommend 4-5 years of experience in industrial hygiene and emergency response projects; PROFESSIONAL SKILLS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Preferred: Recognized Professional Certifications , such as CHMM, ASP, CSP; Ability to obtain DISA clearance; Ability to obtain TWIC clearance; Current driver's license; Ability to obtain a passport; Completion of all job specific OSHA training Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a matrix reporting structure. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of industry regulations Ability to respond in a timely manner to all communications from his/her supervisor. Ability to work in hazardous and adverse conditions; Ability to make decisions in an emergency; Past leadership roles and personnel supervisor experience required; Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions; and, Proficient verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
