Position Overview
Riverside Research seeks a qualified Materials Engineer to carry out materials development on behalf of the Air Force customer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Research responsibilities for this position will focus on the synthesis, characterization, production, and implementation of 2D materials. The candidate Materials Engineer will conduct experimental characterization of emerging optical coating technologies in conjunction with existing in-house capabilities.

Qualifications
Master's in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related science, engineering, or mathematics field
2+ years of relevant experience in material development
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Understanding of the electromagnetic spectrum and RF materials
Experience with compositional, morphological, or topological experimental characterization of thin films, 2D materials, or metasurfaces (e.g., XPS, XRD, XRR, AFM, SEM, TEM, etc.)
Excellent technical communication skills as demonstrated by research conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications
Experience working in a laboratory environment
Ability to be self-motivated, work independently, and seamlessly engage in proficient collaborative teamwork dynamics
Qualifications
Required:
Master's in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related science, engineering, or mathematics field
A minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, 3 years with a Master's degree, a PhD without experience, or equivalent work experience required.
3+ years of relevant experience in material development
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance
Understanding of the electromagnetic spectrum and RF materials
Experience with compositional, morphological, or topological experimental characterization of thin films, 2D materials, or metasurfaces (e.g., XPS, XRD, XRR, AFM, SEM, TEM, etc.)
Excellent technical communication skills as demonstrated by research conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications
Experience working in a laboratory environment
Ability to be self-motivated, work independently, and seamlessly engage in proficient collaborative teamwork dynamics
Must be able to work in a laboratory environment and lift or carry up to 25 lbs
Must be able to work in an office environment at a desk using a computer, keyboard, and mouse
May travel up to 10% of the year to attend research conferences, program reviews, industry meetings, or other collaborative events. Most or all requisite travel will be in the CONUS (Continental United States)

$90,000 - $150,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
