The R&D Protective & Marine Infrastructure Water/Wastewater Senior Chemist will lead new product stage gate development and maintenance of business projects primarily for the water/wastewater segment while also contributing to the Bridge and Highway and High Value Infrastructure segments. This person will also serve as primary lead of the potable water program in Protective and Marine.
Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships.
Designs and executes experiments, draws conclusions, and makes recommendations
Maintains accurate and detailed documentation of lab work and providing written updates and presentation of technical materials.
Communicates with other departments/functions and has a wide network of resources and knows who their resources are.
Function under limited supervision and able to independently design experiments and write reports with limited review.
Accountable for contributing solutions to complex projects.
Communicate detailed ideas concisely through written communication by writing technical reports.
Comply with and displays knowledge of all safety and security regulations and maintain a clean work area
Travel for technical conferences and product commercialization support. Provide outside customer service.
Train or mentor new or lower-level chemists and technicians.
Adhere to company safety standards at all times.
Additional duties as assigned.
Adheres to quality standards in accordance with the Global Business Management System

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Coatings lab setting
Formulation of coating products
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in a Science-related area
7+ years developing protective coatings
Formulation of epoxy, urethane, vinyl ester, acrylic, alkyd, polysiloxane, polyurea and zinc coatings for protective applications
Travel Requirements: 10%
Upon completion of construction, the individual selected for this role will primarily work at the new Sherwin-Williams Global Technology Center in Brecksville, Ohio. Construction is expected to be complete in 2025. Until then, the role will be based at Warrensville Technology Center, located at 4440 Warrensville Center Road, Warrensville Hts, OH 44128.
