Job Description As a Silicone Chemist, you will serve as the subject matter expert for the team, addressing an existing knowledge gap. Your role involves the development and formulation of silicone-based topical skin adhesives. Responsibilities
- Drive the development of innovative silicone-based solutions and formulated blends for adhesives and sealants.
- Develop and maintain in-house application tests.
- Collaborate within a cross-functional team to schedule testing, analyze data, and optimize existing technologies.
- Demonstrate leadership competency and lead silicone chemistry efforts within the company.
- Formulate silicone-based elastomers, polyurethanes, and other polymers for customer applications.
- Create chemical and physical property test standards and specifications for new products. Generate study protocols, execute study plans, and generate final reports for review. Present data as required.
- Troubleshoot product problems and serve as the silicone chemistry lead for products and projects needing new formulations.
- Support scale-up operations, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory compliance on issues related to material formulations.
- Collaborate with all appropriate disciplines within the company and perform material characterization using proper methods and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with formulation and synthesis of silicone elastomers.
- Laboratory experience, including running experiments.
- Ability to write and execute experimental plans, summaries, and completion reports.
- Proficiency in data organization and analysis using Minitab and/or Excel.
- Silicone chemistry experience, which can be academic.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science, or a related field, with relevant industry experience.
- A Master's degree is preferred, while a PhD is acceptable.
- In-depth understanding of chemistry and polymer science, including silicone chemical principles, analytical methods, and polymer synthesis and characterization techniques.
- Proficiency in laboratory safety protocols and the use of laboratory equipment.
- Strong collaboration skills to work with all appropriate disciplines within the company.
- Demonstrated leadership competency and the ability to lead silicone chemistry efforts within the company.
