Staff Scientist, Cell Culture FAS, Massachusetts

We are recruiting a Field Applications Scientist (FAS) to join the AMER FAS Bioproduction team supporting the state of Massachusetts. In this role, you will be the lead technical interface between the internal team and external customers while providing technical consulting and troubleshooting and identifying the best cell culture solutions to meet their needs.

The FAS will collaborate with our internal R&D to support cell culture bioproduction & share their knowledge when working with our customers in the field. The role will engage with a diverse cross-functional team to support the needs of our customers. This role provides opportunity to work independently and in collaboration with the commercial team to bring solutions to our customers who are developing life-saving biologic therapeutics. Additionally, the FAS plays an important role in supporting R&D and Product Management by helping to identify new product innovation opportunities. Support involves customers with activities related to protein and virus production, as well as gene therapy applications. Discussions and needs will vary based on the customer, but may include, transient and stable cell line development, medium and feed selection and optimization, and process development and scale-up.
What will you do:
- Establish and maintain a deep technical relationship with Customer Engagement and Process R&D Teams.
- Together with R&D support develop & optimize cell culture manufacturing processes using innovative technologies.
- Coordinate and lead technical product specification, application, and protocol optimization discussions with customers and prospects for the portfolio of cell culture products.
- Lead customer technical support during product evaluations, analyze data, and collect & convey voice of customer to internal team members.
- Ensure the resolution of customer inquiries through collaboration with multifunctional teams.
- Act as an internal guide to recommend technical applications and input on development studies.
Keys to Success:
Education
- Bachelor's degree Life Sciences (Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering), Masters or PhD degree preferred
Experience
- 7+ years of proven experience working within Academia, Biotech, Biologics, Life Sciences, and/or the Biopharmaceutical industry in a technical or process development capacity.
- Significant experience with mammalian or microbial cell culture, experience in industrial cell culture bioprocessing is strongly preferred
- Experience with analytical cell biology techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of bioprocess workflow for cell culture and relevant process optimization and challenges.
- Experience with optimization and troubleshooting bioreactor parameters.
- Experience with cell culture process scale-up and optimization.
- Provide solutions on design and development, optimization, consultation, technical support, and troubleshooting of customers upstream processes.
- Act as a consultant for customers to driving optimal product and service selection.
- Customer interfacing skills and an ability to proactively drive problem solving processes.
- Ability to present technical content at customer meetings including application notes, publications, and/or posters.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $93,800.00$145,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
