Lab Scientist Bioprocessing Analyst (ONSITE)
Please note that this role is a 6-month contract position and is expected to be extended into 2026.
Location:
Spring House, PA with occasional travel to Malvern, PA or Raritan, NJ
Notes from HM:
- Role would be extending into 2026 most likely
- Role is 100% onsite
- WORK SCHEDULE - will have to work weekends, schedule could be Wed through Sun or Sat through Wed
- Travel, may need to go to Malvern or Raritan sites to help from time to time (must be open to travel to sites when needed)
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree
- Looking for someone who has experience with Lab Scientist Operations
- Will NOT be managing any workers
- Must have Large Molecule experience
- Must have Bioprocessing experience (or Bioengineering)
- Experience with paperwork on lab equipment, GMP
- Must be able to run equipment if needed
- Need to be a team player and be able to step in when needed or asked
- Must have at least 2-5 years of experience
- Must be able to adapt to change
- Should have experience with Wet Chemistry, pre-culture/post-culture
Job Description:
Techniques: laboratory Scale unit operations related to biopharmaceutical manufacturing (preculture, cell culture, harvest, bioreactors, columns, mixing (up to 5L), Spectroscopy, PAT sensors, infrared and Raman spectroscopy.
Cell Culture experience, coursework in analytical chemistry, biology, physical chemistry, and statistics Emerging Technologies, Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) is currently looking for a Scientist to support laboratory operations in a sandbox innovation laboratory to support pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments designed to evaluate new manufacturing process technology for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Experiments also include the use of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) sensors to replace traditional QC lab testing.
The candidate will support small scale manufacturing unit operations (i.e. bioreactors, mixing tanks, columns, etc.).
The candidate will also be responsible for summarizing and auditing data as part of notebook protocols in several different data systems.
The candidate will also support laboratory operation functions that includes overseeing equipment maintenance, calibration, laboratory safety inspections, equipment qualification and work instructions, and consumable point of use purchase orders.
Qualified candidates must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Written communications in the form of reports, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations is required.
Good verbal and written communication skills a must.
0-5 years experience.
Responsibilities:
Setup reduced scale biotherapeutic unit operations
Preculture from vial to wavebag
Daily offline sampling of preculture and cell culture
Basic bioreactor operation (daily sampling, calibration of pH, DO, and PAT sensors)
Set up and tear down of bioreactors
Setup for other unit operations (i.e. harvest filtration, downstream purification columns) as appropriate
Summarize data in electronic notebook
Conduct laboratory experiments from notebook protocols under guidance of scientists
Perform laboratory operation functions under direction of scientist that includes overseeing equipment maintenance, calibration, laboratory safety inspections, equipment qualification and work instructions, and consumable point of use purchase orders
