Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Scientist to be part of a team focused on cell biology associated with non-viral gene therapy in the Genomic Medicine Unit. The successful candidate will play an important role to support the activities around various projects that involve genome editing technology as an approach for treatment of common or rare diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

Specifically, the remit of the candidate will be to:

Technically support non-viral gene therapy team through execution of thoughtfully designed cell biology experiments in collaboration with peers.

Develop and execute techniques for successful gene editing of various cell types (including technologies such as electroporation and delivery of LNPs)

Evaluate target editing using various types of analysis to evaluate mRNA and protein expression by flow cytometry. Cell sorting experience and magnetic isolation of cells is preferred.

Design and work with diverse cell culture systems to evaluate function of edited cells.

Collaborate across teams within and outside of the GMU department.

Act as an impactful contributor on different projects in the group.

Incorporates strong research integrity practices.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, genetics or related field plus minimum 6+ years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR Master's Degree in immunology, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, genetics or related field plus minimum 3-5 years of relevant research experience in a biopharmaceutical setting OR PhD in immunology, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, genetics or related field. No Post doc experience required.

Prior experience involving genome editing applications is preferred.

Experience culturing primary human cells is required. Preferred cell types include NK cells, human hematopoietic stem cells and/or T cells.

Experience independently preparing and executing flow cytometry experiments is required. Experience using the Agilent Novocyte platform is preferred.

Driven and results-oriented, with a track record of contribution to research projects

Demonstrated ability to work well under supervision and to deliver well curated results on time

Exemplary written and oral communication skills.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.
