We are seeking a Senior Research Associate to lead efforts in generating gene-edited cavefish and conducting behavioral testing. The associate will collaborate with other lab members to analyze data and interpret results, contributing to ongoing research projects.

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Performing research experiments injecting transgenic fish, performing behavioral and morphological analysis

  • Generating probes and phenotyping fish.

  • Maintaining an accurate laboratory notebook, writing manuscripts , presenting findings, and contributing to grant proposals

  • Training graduate and undergraduate students

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study AND Four years' relevant professional experience

A well-qualified candidate would also possess:

  • Graduate Degree in Biology or related field (M.S. or P h.D )

  • Experience generating transgenic fish.

  • Experience with research related to cavefish.

  • Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment.

  • Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks.

  • Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Detailed understanding of gene-editing and transgenic methodology .

  • Background in genetics and animal husbandry.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong organizational skills

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hires education and experience

Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.
