The Space Division at Leidos has an opening for a Software Development Engineer to work in our Huntsville, AL satellite production facility. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the team to develop software used to perform testing on payload hardware.
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
This position will be responsible for development, debugging, and implementation of software primarily using Python and Java to control hardware and perform data capture from the unit under test. The candidate is required to perform test planning, test execution, scheduling, and resource management. The candidate will work with both ground support equipment and the deliverable payload to perform the required tests and gather test data for acceptance testing.
They will create test plans, procedures, and support engineering review boards. The candidate will work in an office and test stand environment. Candidate will be required to ascend/descend stairs and work in a cleanroom environment.
WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)
Requires Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or closely related field and 4 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Candidate must have a minimum of 4 years of related experience in software development with Python and Java experience.
Candidate should have demonstrated experience integrating ground support hardware into test environment to display and record test data.
Candidate must have experience with data gathering using multiple types of sensors, typically recording voltage and/or current.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work well with cross-functional teams, design engineers, analysts, manufacturing, project management and customer representatives
Experience working in a cleanroom environment
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and ability to work with multiple interfaces
Experience with LabVIEW
Understanding and basic troubleshooting skills of test instrumentation

Pay Range: Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
